For anyone who still reads this....

Hello to All!
I have been hearing that an update is long overdue and I agree! So much has happened since I last wrote that I don't know where to begin.
Summer Camp: After leaving Adullam House the beginning of May, I spent a relaxing week at home before I flew to Pennsylvania for a summer of ropes course instructing at Black Rock Retreat (I was a counselor in summer '06) outside Quarryville, PA. I was on the ropes staff with 3 other college age ladies! We had a great summer helping the kids learn to work as a team in cabin initiatives class and to overcome fears as they climbed to their personal best heights on the high ropes elements of the climbing wall, zipline, dynamic and static elements of the new pole course!
Outdoor Education: I had one week to regroup from Summer Camp before I began training for the fall season of Black Rock's Outdoor Education program. I was one of 8 fulltime staff in this program. We ran two sessions a week (mon-wed & wed-fri) for 10 weeks with middle schools. The schools stayed in the cabins and we, the staff, ate meals with them, taught their classes, facilitated evening games, led morning and evening worship/devotions, and facilitated night activities (my favorite was leading night hikes with no flash lights and the kids learn all about nocturnal animals, their own senses, and learn to not fear the darkness simply because they can't see like in the daytime). Multiple schools at the same time always presented a challenge, but it was fun interacting with schools from all over the extended area. Our classroom was the outdoors! Each teacher kinda had our groove and I taught Recycling, Fossils, Weather, Astronomy, Tracking, and Trees.  It was a great learning experience for me to not only grow in these subjects, but also to manage a class, speak regularly at devos, and lead worship! We finished with our last group last friday.
Now: A great opportunity opened for me to move into Lancaster City and work for the winter! I was expecting to move back to Canada until God clearly changed the direction of those steps! I'm living in a house with several friends I worked with at camp. I was given a bed, dresser, and bookshelf..what a blessing! Several weeks ago I was hired by the Lancaster Recreation Commission to work in their Before & After School Programs at an elementary school in the City! I begin that opportunity January 2! Until then:)...I'm visiting Adullam House in Alabama next week, chilling in Lancaster for American Thanksgiving, visiting Canada for a week, visiting my siblings in OH for a week, and then settling in over Christmas in Lancaster! Today I started to explore downtown Lancaster on foot...what a fun place! Its so nice to live within walking distance of so many stores, coffee shops, museums, and art galleries! The Lord has richly blessed me with supportive friends in the area and opportunities that are at my every turn!
Drop me a line and let me know what's up in your life! my cell is still the same..email me if you want my new address! Later~Bethany:)

Hey all...its been forever...we have 3 days until camp is over and it has flown by...things took a great turn for the better in some different situations last week and I'm excited for how camp is ending this year. Most of you probably don't know that I'm staying to work in the Outdoor Ed program at Black Rock until mid November! I'm super excited about this because the pace is a lot more laid back and just different because its Christian schools that come and stay for 3 days. We teach them classes and do outdoors stuff with them! Two other summer camp staff are staying to work and their will be a few new people too! So excited! later:)

"Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." ~I Peter 4:11
Verse of my life at the moment in so many ways. We got back from mid camp break last night and it was so relaxing! chillin at spruce lake retreat and then a day at Camel Beach water park! Having a chill weekend. Middle school weeks start this week and its that and highschool for the rest of the summer!!! I'm excited to have high ropes in the afternoon! Don't feel like elaborating on anything at the moment. I'm going to get facebook soon. later

What to say? I was shocked this week to learn of Carrie's unexpected death on tuesday...its been really hard for me to not be home but I'm dealing. My thoughts and prayers are often with those of you at home. we just finished our first week of campers....it was truly a wonderful week! I loved teaching ropes class in the morning and doing random things and hanging with campers in the afternoon! Its been different being on program staff but I'm enjoying the change. Right now we're chilling at the Foley's playing catch phrase. Pray that I will be focused next week and want to engage in what I'm doing instead of struggling with wanting to be home right now to be with my friends during this rough time. later
